The Neighbor's Club (隣人部, Rinjin-bu) is a social club and the focus of the Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai series. Realizing that they both lack social lives, Kodaka Hasegawa and Yozora Mikazuki decide that the best way to improve their situation is to form the Neighbor's Club to make friends and learn social skills.

Club Overview[]

Goal[]

"In accordance with the teachings of Christianity, we aim to become good neighbors to our fellow students and deepen our fellowship with them by working together with them to better ourselves in a variety of situations." - the club's formal goal as stated by the club's founder/president, Yozora Mikazuki.

Simply put, the primary goal of the Neighbor's Club is to make friends by incorporating social methods they learned through different activities approved by all members of the club.

In truth, Yozora's sole purpose of establishing the very Neighbor's Club is to recuperate the lost friendship she had with Kodaka in their childhood by being the only members of the club. Though this doesn't go as planned, since other members join. Yozora does eventually become friends with Kodaka once again.

Background and recruitment of members[]

The club's establishment occurred after a fateful encounter between Kodaka Hasegawa and Yozora Mikazuki. Stumbling upon Yozora talking to Tomo, her "air friend", Kodaka found himself in the presence of a rant from Yozora defending her claims of Tomo's existence. Nonetheless, seeing as both of them are near-friendless and clueless in regards to social interactions, the two discuss the act of "friend-making." After Yozora shot down Kodaka's suggestion of joining clubs, ironically, this gave Yozora a way for her to reclaim the past friendship she and Kodaka once shared - by making a club composed only of her and Kodaka. After coercing sister Maria Takayama to approve her club request form provided to her, the Neighbor's Club became official.

The following day, Yozora dragged Kodaka into her newly formed club as its fellow founding member despite his initial protest. Sena Kashiwazaki, a class beauty who's despised by her school's female populace, eventually became the Neighbor's Club first recruited member. Sister Maria Takayama introduced herself as the club's advisor as she fell under Yozora's constant bidding. Underclassmen Yukimura Kusonoki and Rika Shiguma, on separate occasions, joined the club due to their interest to Kodaka. Finally, Kodaka's delusional younger sister, Kobato Hasegawa, feeling deprived of her brother's attention due to the club, but mostly because of Maria monopolizing his brother, eventually decided to also join the club.

All in all, seven official members made up the Neighbor's Club.

Activities[]

As a club based around learning methods of social interactions, members mostly decide their activities by considering things people with social lives do. Such activities include relay novels, playing co-op video games, going to the karaoke bar, frolicking at the beach and so on.
